Terms & Conditions
Fast & LOCAL Plumbers sets out these terms so customers in Basingstoke know exactly how bookings, charges, payment and liability work before any job starts. By using this website or booking a call-out, the customer agrees to the terms below.
Booking, charges and payment
Fast & LOCAL Plumbers reserves the right to decline any work at its own discretion, and where work is accepted, the contract is between the customer and The LOCAL Plumbers. A minimum one hour fee applies to every appointment, plus parts and VAT, regardless of how much work is carried out, because this covers the engineer's time on site. If the job runs past one hour, extra labour is charged at the half-hour rate agreed at booking. Discounts only apply if they were quoted and agreed when the booking was made. If a customer cancels after accepting an estimate, the customer must reimburse The LOCAL Plumbers for any labour, materials or equipment hire already incurred. All invoices are due immediately on completion of works, and where a third party such as a landlord, agent or tenant represents the customer, that third party is responsible for payment unless the company has agreed otherwise in writing beforehand. Guarantees, certificates and similar documents are only issued once payment has been received in full.
Attendance, liability and defects
The LOCAL Plumbers will confirm a date and time for works and will always try to keep to that schedule, but all times given are estimates only, so no liability is accepted for late or non-attendance or late delivery of materials. Any faulty workmanship is rectified by the Independent Plumber who carried out the original work. Liability is limited to repairing or making good any defect, covering personal injury or death caused by negligence during the work, and reasonable costs of repair where damage results from the Independent Plumber's negligence. Because some jobs require removing bathroom suites, tiling, floor coverings or opening walls to route pipework, the Independent Plumber does not accept responsibility for damage caused during that investigation or repair process, including damage to plaster and brickwork, which becomes the customer's responsibility to make good. Damage to wallpaper, paintwork, carpets or furniture is not covered, so customers should protect these items themselves before work begins, since The LOCAL Plumbers will only make reasonable efforts to avoid causing damage. Any defect must be reported to the company, verbally or in writing, and the Independent Plumber and their insurers must be given the chance to inspect it before further action. If inspection shows the defect was not caused by the original work, a standard-rate charge applies for that visit.
Permissions, waste and guarantees
Customers are responsible for obtaining any permits, licences, planning permission or consent from owners, landlords, agents or organisations before installation work begins, because the Independent Plumber cannot proceed without this in place. Where access over a neighbour's or third party's property is needed, the customer must arrange permission and will indemnify the Independent Plumber against any claims arising from that access. The LOCAL Plumbers is not responsible for removing waste materials from completed works, so clearing waste is the customer's responsibility. Any guarantee provided by the Independent Plumber covers labour only, for faulty workmanship, under that plumber's own guarantee policy. Exclusions include parts or materials supplied by the customer, systems not originally installed by the Independent Plumber, and defects caused by misuse or faulty work carried out by the customer or another third party.
